Beat the VAT : best time ever to buy a bathroom

With an increase in VAT just around the corner the last couple of months of 2009 are destined to be the best time ever to buy a new bathroom suite and the BMA is urging its members to make the most of it with one last push, selling their bathrooms at bargain- basement prices.
Yvonne Orgill, chief executive of the BMA, told B&K Update “We have enjoyed a small reduction in VAT over the last year and our members have done their best to push their big ticket items to take advantage of the drop in prices. But with VAT planned to jump back to its previous levels, or even more, now is the best time ever to buy a bathroom.”
Bathroom retailers should also be trying to cash in. They too should be pushing their wares to the consumer – on an all-new bathroom, savings are there for the taking, but there isn’t much time left.
It is a great time for householders to refurbish their properties with superb water-saving products. If they have decided to stay put then the water savings found in the very latest bathroom products will multiply year on year reducing both water and energy consumption and the bills which follow. But if householders are refurbishing ready to sell their homes in the improving market a sparkling new bathroom, which uses less water, is truly a great USP.
